Case History: 69 year old female with hypochondriasis, depression, vertigo, claustrophobia, stress, sadness, no focus, insomnia, worry and agoraphobia.

Many disorders within the head region are found to stem from muscular and skeletal stiffness and asymmetries of the cervical spine, especially around the region of the upper vertebrae i.e. Atlantal-Axial joint. Gentle muscular release and Osteopathic adjustment of the neck helped reduce the frequency and severity of vertigo.

Both Osteopathy and Acupuncture can help to reduce the severity of psychosomatic distress, as these processes can manifest into all kinds of physical symptoms i.e. fear, panic attacks, nightmares, muscular rigidities, low self esteem, depression, anger issues, grief, low energy and breathing disorders. Osteopathy and Acupuncture can to help to release negative emotional and mental states. Wilhelm Reich (Student of Dr. Sigmund Freud, Vienna School of Psychoanalysis) clinically observed that it is possible to both access and manipulate the forces which drive the psyche through the body sensoria, and this he termed, the ‘biophysics of perception’. In therapy explore these Reichian principles within the framework of Osteopathic diagnosis and treatment. Acupuncture is also very effective in the treatment of psycho-emotional distress, where we utilise ‘Five Element’ principles in the diagnosis and treatment ofd the patient. Acupuncture can also restore harmony and balance within the emotions and the mind. There is hope!
